Studies show that sensory integration therapy (SIT) can help address sensory processing issues common in autism, with some evidence supporting improvements in engagement and behavior (Parham et al., 2007; Zimmerman et al., 2019). However, interventions must be tailored to individual sensory profiles, and more rigorous studies are needed (Frontiers in Psychiatry, 2025). Weighted blankets, sensory-friendly environments, and adaptive technologies are also being researched for their calming effects (National Autistic Society, Autism CRC).
