A recent study by the Catalight Research Institute found that more treatment hours for autistic children don't necessarily lead to better outcomes. The peer-reviewed research examined 725 kids nationwide and found no clear link between higher weekly ABA therapy hours and improved adaptive skills. This aligns with other findings suggesting diminishing returns after a certain point of intervention intensity. The original "40 hours/week" recommendation from Lovaas' 1987 study is being re-examined, as newer evidence shows quality and individualized approaches may matter more than sheer quantity of hours.
